Kelly Kirkland Photography | CT Newborn Photographer | Christopher

Ken and Alex are new parents of a beautiful little boy, Christopher, who was just under 2 weeks old at the time of our session.  In looking through little Christopher’s images from his photoshoot, I had SO many favorites to choose from.  His expressions were so perfectly adorable.  He snuggled right up in my blankets and was more than happy to model for me.  Below are some of the sweet moments I witnessed with this beautiful family.

Mother and Son.The moment I stepped into their dining room, I saw this incredible mirror on the wall.  I told Alex that I thought it was gorgeous.  She mentioned that it used to belong to her grandmother, and that it was given to her after she passed away.  It was at that moment that I decided we needed to use it in the photos, and we set up shop on the dining room table.  🙂Sweet baby fingers.I found this sign on a piece of furniture in their living room, and thought it was perfect for the shot below.  A message to help us keep it all in perspective…and value what is most important in life.
Christopher’s parents are BIG Yankee fans, and they wanted to include some of their Yankee paraphernalia in the photoshoot.Ken and I went down into the basement and started gathering the items that  you see in these photos.  They have quite the collection, I must say!  I sat Christopher in the locker basket, and voila! The photo below is actually my favorite of the day, because it was a REAL moment.  Sincere.  Raw.  Beautiful.

Alex and Ken, thank you for inviting me into your home, letting me rummage through your things, and prop your baby in the oddest of places.  😉  I had a wonderful time with you and I hope you enjoy your photos!  I wish you and Christopher all the best in these early weeks.  Cherish every moment, and keep him on that pedestal.

Kelly Kirkland Photography | CT Child Photographer | Hayden

My friend Erica and I met up at a park in New Jersey recently to take some photos of her adorable 20 month old, Hayden!  Hayden is soon to become a big sister, so we thought this was the perfect opportunity to get some photos of her before she needs to share the spotlight with anyone else.  I couldn’t resist getting a few shots of the beautiful momma-to-be, as well.  Erica, you look amazing, and I can’t wait to meet that little boy or girl!  (I’m not even going to guess…  ;))

Love you guys!  XO  So excited for the weeks to come!

Kelly Kirkland Photography | CT Newborn Photographer | Dante

I had the privilege to travel to New Jersey to meet a very special baby boy last week.  Little Dante was so tiny and perfect, I just couldn’t get enough of him!  His parents, Natalie and Mark, were very proud and obviously so in love with him.  I knew they were going to be great parents when I met them last month for Natalie’s maternity photos. This is the moment, below, that I fell in love with Dante’s wrinkles…Below, taking a little snooze on a bed of diapers.  Who knew they made such great pillows?!And, another cat nap below, this time in Daddy’s guitar case!Dante’s father, Mark, made the bowl below in woodshop.  Think they’ll be joking about this photo as they pass the salad around the table at future holiday dinners?  🙂Born to be WILD!Just LOVIN’ the wrinkly kneecaps.  Officially.Obsessed.Why do I have the feeling that Natalie and Mark will be seeing a lot of this perfect little pout in the next couple of years??

Sweet dreams, little Dante.  Nat and Mark, thank you for inviting me into your home to capture Dante’s early days at home.  I wish you three nothing but the best.

Kelly Kirkland Photography | CT Family Photographer | Grace, Brandon & Ryan

Two year old Grace is absolutely adorable, and she has some pretty handsome cousins, brothers Brandon and Ryan.  I met up with these beautiful children at Jennings Beach in Fairfield.  We toyed around with the idea of postponing the shoot because we had some RIDICULOUS rain in the forecast for that evening, but I am so glad we were able to make our session happen.  We spent less than an hour on the beach, and got some unbelievable shots of the kids playing in the sand and waves.  I couldn’t have asked for anything more.

Dana, John, Jill and Todd, thank you so much for choosing me to capture the memories of this fun-filled afternoon for your family.  There is nothing I love more than letting kids be kids during my photo sessions.  Their laughter was so contagious, it’s hard not to smile when looking back through the photos.  Your children are so beautiful, so spirited, and my camera loved them!  😉

Kelly Kirkland Photography | CT Newborn Photographer | Noah & Mackenzie

Big brother Noah was so sweet and protective of his two-and-a-half week old baby sister, Mackenzie.  He was very aware of my presence and the fact that I was there to photograph his little sister.  I loved watching them interact, especially when he was pulling her around on his John Deere!  Too cute…

When I asked Karen if she had anything special she wanted to use for props with Mackenzie, she said, “Can we put her in my new Vera Bradley diaper bag?”  I replied, “Are you kidding, can we?!  Absolutely!”  🙂I’m telling you, this sweet little girl made my job much too easy.  While she dozed off and took a little nap, I was able to get some of the most breath-taking shots.  I just love the squishy cheeks and pouty lips in the photos below.

Mike and Karen, you have such a beautiful family.  Noah and Mackenzie are so lucky to have you both as parents and to grow up in such a loving home.  Enjoy every moment of these early years.  Congratulations!
