Kelly Kirkland Photography | CT Child Photographer | Jordyn’s 1st Birthday!

It’s fun to be ONE!  Jordyn was the star of the show for her first birthday party!  I think Jordyn was only 6 or 7 months old when her mom, Alyson, contacted me about shooting her birthday party.  I was totally honored and couldn’t wait for the little princess’s day to arrive!  Take a look at some of the images we captured that day.  I’m so glad Jordyn will have these photos to remember her very special first birthday party.

There is nothing sweeter…Jordyn’s 1st pair of UGGs, below…It’s COUSIN time!

“I’m kind of a big deal…”

Alyson, thank you so much for choosing me to take Jordyn’s 1st birthday photos.  She is just adorable, and I wish you all nothing but the best in the years to come!

Kelly Kirkland Photography | CT Wedding Photographer | Christina & Pete: Engaged!

I’ve been on a little bit of a blogging break, but couldn’t have found a better couple to jump back into it with.  Christina & Petey!  How cute are they?  This adorable couple met me in Newport for their engagement session, and it couldn’t have been a more perfect setting for their photos.  We explored the grounds of Castle Hill, which was absolutely breathtaking, and then continued onto downtown Newport.  Christina had her makeup done by the ever-talented Andrea Marano, who does gorgeous work with her brides…

The love felt between this beautiful couple was amazing.  Christina and  Petey, I can’t wait to photograph your wedding this fall!  It’s going to be perfect.

Kelly Kirkland Photography | CT Wedding Photographer | Sonia & Josh: Married!

We were seven years old, in the same second grade class, learning long division and how to write our names in cursive.  We would move our desks to face each other every day, and had ‘snack’ together.  I remember how cool I thought she was when her mom let her have her birthday party at the movie theater, where we got to watch the PG-13 classic, “La Bamba”.   I used to cheer for her at her basketball games, and I was so proud of her.

It wasn’t long before we were going out dancing together.  I would leave my house in jeans and a t-shirt, and change into my clubbing clothes at her house.  (Sorry, Mom!)  We shared some of the best times together in our teenage years, and picked each other up during some of the worst.

Sonia and Josh met at Renssalaer Polytechnic Institute, her freshman year, 1997.  I remember meeting Josh when I came to visit Sonia at RPI, and I thought they made such a beautiful couple.  Over the years, I have gotten to know Josh pretty well.  We’ve traveled together.  He teased me for always having a camera around my neck, snapping away everywhere we went.  I teased him for being the pickiest eater I’ve ever met in my entire life.  If it never moo’d, he won’t touch it.  Seriously?!

About a year ago, Josh asked me if I would come to Mexico to photograph his proposal to Sonia.  There is nothing that I would have loved more, but with my little ones at home and my schedule, I wasn’t able to be there.  He planned the most romantic weekend for her, and she was totally blown away.  They came home on cloud nine, stopping by on Thanksgiving day to show me the ring, bubbling over with excitement.  And as soon as they let it all sink in, they started planning a very intimate wedding for the following September.

Over the last several months, I have had some really special times with Sonia, sharing in her preparation for the big day.  My first “Kleinfeld’s” experience (aside from the reality show “Say Yes to the Dress”!) was with Sonia and her mom, the day after Christmas last year.  It was a really memorable day, and not just because we were climbing over piles of snow that NYC DOT didn’t plow from that crazy snowstorm.  🙂  Sonia decisively chose her wedding dress that day.  Probably the most chill, laidback, non-bridezilla-bride I’ve ever met.  Love her.

In May, Sonia, her mom, her grandma and I took a road trip to Newport to finalize some details for the big day.  We went for her hair and make-up trial, met with florists, and took a look at the venue (couldn’t resist taking a few pics, of course!  You know, just for Sonia’s Wedding Planning Scrapbook, that she doesn’t have… :D).

She is my oldest and dearest friend, and I had the privilege to be her witness (and photographer!) on her wedding day.  On September 18th, Sonia and Josh pledged their love for one another in front of a very small group of family and friends.  With tears rolling down my cheeks behind my lens, I captured the beautiful union unfolding before me, and again, I was so proud of my dear friend.

Here are some of the gorgeous details of their wedding day…

Josh, thank you for making my girl smile from the inside out.  I have never seen her happier than I did on your wedding day.  The vows you pledged to one another were the sweetest words, and I hope they guide you through a fabulous life of togetherness.  I love you both.  Congratulations!

Kelly Kirkland Photography | CT Newborn Photographer | Hunter

Last month, I took some photos of my good friend Erica and her daughter, Hayden.  Just a few weeks later, they welcomed a new baby into the Rosenberg family.  Meet Hunter, the adorable addition!

Judging by the photo below, I’m thinking he would make an adorable Husky fan.  What do you think?  U-C-O-N-N, UConn, UConn, UConn!  🙂Big sister Hayden was so attentive to her little brother.  She gave him lots of kisses and hugs and showered him with love.  🙂Congratulations, Erica and Mike!  Hunter is such a cutie, and I can’t wait to get all of our kids together soon.  XO  Love you guys!

Kelly Kirkland Photography | CT Wedding Photographer | Kerri & Alex: Married!

It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon when I met up with Kerri at the hotel where she was getting ready.  I walked in, and the room was filled with a sense of calm.  A quiet period of anticipation and reflection while she prepared to marry the man of her dreams.

Here are a few photos of Kerri being beautified by the talented Danielle Santagata.
I just love all of the unique details of Kerri’s special day.  A SHORT white dress with POCKETS.  Love it!  Lipstick-red heels, and a crystal and hematite headband complemented her black diamond engagement ring perfectly.Meet the groom, Alex.  He was preparing for their wedding at his parents’ beautiful home in New Milford.  Here he is with his mother, just a few moments before going to see his bride.Alex and Kerri tied the knot in a very intimate ceremony at Matteo’s in New Milford.
They were surrounded by their parents, Kerri’s brother and grandparents, and Alex’s bandmates.  Alex is a vocalist and bass player in the band Brighter Than A Thousand Suns.  <—-Check them out!!They had just tied the knot, had been introduced to those closest to them as Mr. and Mrs. Anderson, sharing a very special moment with some very special people.   And then we took a few moments alone together to let it all sink in.

Look at their big beautiful smiles below, sharing their first meal as husband and wife with those closest to them.Kerri and Alex, thank you so much for allowing me to capture these photos of your wedding day.  Kerri, you were a strikingly gorgeous bride.  Congratulations to you both.  I wish you all the happiness in the world.
