Born and raised a “Valley Girl”, I grew up on the Housatonic. My grandparents had a dock on the water right across from Indian Wells. For as long as I can remember, I spent my childhood summers on water skis and being tossed off the tube behind my dad’s boat. Some of my best memories are on the water of the Housatonic River.
When I heard that the recent flooding had really taken a toll on the residents of the Housatonic, I grabbed my camera and headed down to the Stevenson Dam area first. Here are some of the images of the devastation that I came across that afternoon.
The raging waters over the Stevenson Dam…
The spray of the water felt like a mini-Niagara Falls…
My heart goes out to the people that were displaced from the flooding. I hope this area recovers quickly. Let’s all count our blessings today.
